Moving Day. The entire project I am working on at work has gotten to the size that between all us internals, and all the various temps, we have outgrown our britches at our corporate HQ building. So we are moving to a temporarily rented space about 2 miles down the road. The new building is nice in that very generic anycompany type of way. On the plus side, my new desk is way nicer than what we had at the old place. I have a HUGE office with a large U shaped desk, then space for another table, and a pretty window. I was sharing an office with my boss at the old place, and we’re somewhat dong the same now – we have mirror image offices that face each other and open out into each other, so it is really like having one giganto office that we share.
It also has two big windows with actual sunlight, or what is considered actual sunlight in grey and overcast land. But definitely a step up.
On the negative side it is far away from everything. There are only about 9 of us on the entire half of the floor we are on, so there is a sea of cubicles surrounding our little inhabited area. And inevitably, many of the people who we want to meet with, or who want to meet with us are over at the old building. Everything is also currently very generic and sterile – it definitely needs some color.
