ECKLEBURG 2004-03-11 - 11:55 a.m. Yeay! I am back from the dead. This is actually my third blog – the previous two I started, did for about 2 weeks and then forgot about it faster than people who wear spandex drop their new year’s resolutions to exercise and lose weight. But not this time! After quite a while being too lazy to find time to write my blog I am back. I am a new man with discipline and control. Really. No, seriously – Really. So I am sitting in my last class of my MBA period. It is Saturday morning and I all is done for both of my classes. I took my last test yesterday, my group turned in my last paper this morning. All that is left is listening to one lecture, and listening to several other groups do presentations. My final class is Project Management, and we are finishing up by studying spectacular failures and saying “Wow, they really screwed THAT part up; and OH, check out how they had their heads up various body cavities when it came to THIS!” Then I think back to my projects at work and think, wow I have been stinkin’ it up on my projects. Luckily, I can (and have) taken consolation in the fact that I have not been the ideal project manager for a few reasons: 1. I am new, and still have the “I don’t know how things work here” excuse. Of course, part of my job is to have skills that transport from job to job and situation to situation. 2. Many, Many other people are equally inefficient and ineffective. Wow, what do you mean you don’t already have a solid process to do all these things that as absolutely essential for our company to survive?
